Dunking toys in water

Ever since he was kitten old enough to play Victor constantly soaks all of his toys in water. Water bowl, toilet, bath, puddle, it doesn't really matter what kind of liquid it is, as long it's wet it's good  Some people say cats store their precious items in water bowls to keep them safe but he takes it right out once its soaked.

His favorite game is soaking his foam balls and then throwing them down the stairs or from any high place.

So, why exactly is he doing that?

From my understanding, it is to keep their goodies in a safe place they consider their own.

Back in the wild, cats would hunt and capture prey, then hide it in their nest, to protect from other predators. Now since our cats don't have a nest per se, they put it in the next best place.

It could also just come from simple confusion! Your cat doesn't know how to complete the 'hunt' (playtime is like hunting for cats), so she sloshes it in the water bowl and goes along her merry way!

LOL I've never seen a cat doing that. I'd die laughing if Daisy starts throwing wet balls around the house 😄

I know, it's super funny to watch him with soaked ball. The only problem is that it's often soaked in toilet water 😅

Chaucer has done this, then he brings them into my bed and puts the toilet water toys next to my hand at night! Gross! So i have to keep the toilet lids closed.

I don't know why they're doing that, but my girl does that too. Not with toys but with things she steals. I think it's her way of claiming things as her own - like, ok, I dunked it, it's all mine now. I am not impressed. :cautious:
